We owe it to future generations...
To never give up hope and to never give up working for a better world
On this morning of mourning, I took myself out to the woods, sat at the foot of a favorite old tree, and tried to crystallize my feelings into words. What came were quiet words, but fighting words, that will grow stronger and clearer as I move with all of you into this new chapter in our lives.
First we have to just take time to grieve and let ourselves FEEL this moment deeply.
And then, we continue. What is mine to do? What is yours to do? How can we make our time on Earth meaningful, not just to ourselves but to the entire web of Life?
Resistance is going to be necessary. But not just reaction against what we don’t want…it is also going to be super-important to lean into what we do want, to dream, vision and lay the foundations of the better world that will come, if enough of us give our hearts to the task of birthing it.
Yours in the struggle that continues despite the darkness of this moment—
Jennifer
I, too, am grieving. And I'm also so grateful at this moment for the communities I've found and the individual connections forged within them. That solidarity and shared sense of purpose will get us through.
We can give ourselves a moment to grieve when it does not go well and then it’s time to use our resources to effect change. Thinking of you all in this period of transition.
